Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter III is the top seller of 2008 according to Nielsen SoundScan. The record rang up 2.88 million sales, however, it’s the first time the best selling album of the year has sold less than 3 million since Nielsen SoundScan began tracking sales in 1991.
Coldplay’s 2008 release Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends came in second with 2.15 million, followed by Taylor Swift’s just-released Fearless with 2.11 million.
