Founding Member of Pink Floyd, Richard Wright, Dies

Pink Floyd founding member Richard Wright died on Tuesday after a short battle with cancer. He was 65.

Wright’s piano and synthesizer work played a critical role in Floyd’s pioneering psychedelic sound.

While Wright rarely received the publicity or high profile status of other bandmates, he wrote or co-wrote many of the band’s songs and provided a crucial component to the Pink Floyd sound.

Wright is survived by sons Ben and Jamie, daughter Gala and a grandson.
