NYC & Company has partnered with Warner Bros. Records in conjunction with the release of Oasis’ latest album Dig Out Your Soul on October 7, 2008. This will not be a traditional album launch, however, with the premiere of the band’s new music literally on the streets of New York City.
NYC & Company’s creative agency, Bartle Bogle Hegarty (BBH) New York, will be compiling a documentary of the release, entitled Dig Out Your Soul in the Streets on September 12, 2008 beginning at 10am with a small rehearsal session featuring the new songs “The Turning,” “Bag it Up,” “(Get Off Your) High Horse Lady,” and their latest single “The Shock of the Lightning.” The rehearsal session will teach 30+ NYC street musicians from the Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s (MTA) Music Under New York Program. Later the same afternoon, the street musicians will take to the NYC streets to premiere three unreleased Oasis songs publicly.
George Fertitta, CEO of NYC & Company, said “there could not be a more fitting place for this to happen than New York City.” He went on to emphasize that this is a backwards album release where the music starts on the streets “instead of ending up there.”
The street musicians will perform the new Oasis songs at locations throughout the city, including subway station platforms at Grand Central, Times Square, Penn Station and Astor Place.
