“Take Back Labor Day” to Include Lupe Fiasco, Mos Def + Others

The Service Employees International Union’s (SEIU) plan to host a “Take Back Labor Day Festival” at the foot of the Republican National Convention on September 1st from noon to 7pm at Harriet Island Regional Park in St. Paul, Minnesota. Lupe Fiasco, Mos Def, Billy Bragg & Atmosphere have just been added to the bill, joining Steve Earle, Allison Moorer, and Tom Morello & friends.

The festival will feature a concert, a YouTube station, a children’s area, ad a large audience-participation art project. “Take Back Labor Day” hopes to bring attention to the achievements of working men and women. The goal of the festival is to promote a New Vision for the 21st Century that includes affordable healthcare for all, wages that support family, freedom to join union as individuals chose and retirement security.
