Dropkick Murphys Trade Green for Gold

Dropkick Murphys’ single “I’m Shipping Up to Boston” was certified Gold with sales of over 500,000 copies. From the 2005 CD The Warrior’s Code, the album reached mainstream audiences after the single was featured in Martin Scorsese’s film The Departed, in addition to being used for sports teams (both in and out of Boston), on a recent episode of “The Simpsons,” and its use as the title track for the Discovery Channel series “Lobster Wars” in 2007.

Dropkick Murphys also released a deluxe limited edition of their current album The Meanest of Times, on Born & Bred Records/ILG on March 11th. The deluxe version includes five additional tracks, a bonus DVD with their performance at a St. Patrick’s Day charity breakfast in Boston, the music video for “The State of Massachusetts,” and behind the scenes footage.

Tour dates are below. Australia dates will be opened by Sick Of It All and the 6/3 stop in Tokyo will be opened by Maximum the Hormone. Dropkick Murphys will join Less Than Jake and Goldfinger in Philadelphia on 6/29 and The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, fellow Boston musicians, on 7/19 and 7/20 in California.
