New York dream pop/shoegaze duo Asobi Seksu’s second album Citrus gave them the opportunity to travel the world and proudly display their wares for any and all willing to listen. Hearing them loud and clear, Polyvinyl responed by signing them.
Asobi Seksu are now preparing to head back to the studio to work on album number 3 with a bit of excitement. Songwriter/guitarist James Hanna explained, “I couldn’t be happier to be working with Polyvinyl. They are such a well-respected label and have a great sense of post-punk, diy ethics. Yuki and I are both huge record junkies so the fact that they are super into high quality vinyl releases with such creative packaging is exciting.”
Equally stoked is Polyvinyl co-owner Matt Lunsford. “We have been enamored with Asobi Seksu for a long time, but seeing them play live was an epiphany. I felt like I might need to peel myself off the wall after their set. I can’t wait to hear their new record!”
Details on the album will emerge once recording is finished. Asobi Seksu will return to Europe for festivals and other to-be-announced gigs in July.
