The Heavy Metal Box

Continuing a prolific and highly acclaimed tradition in genre chronicalling, Rhino have turned to heavy metal. On October 2, they’ll unleashing a 4-disc box set simply titled The Heavy Metal Box in a limited edition package resembling an amplifier. In a clever nod to faux-metal legends Spinal Tap (whose “Big Bottom” is included on disc 3) there’s a turnable knob that will in fact go all the way to 11. The box is arranged chronologically and spans heavy metal’s history from 1968 to 1991, the genre’s first golden age.
