After what seemed to be certain cancellation, a Brazilian judge gave the green light for the Rio De Janeiro installment of Live Earth after being convinced that organizers provided ample security for the event.
The event kicked off a bit early with native pop star Guilherme Arantes performing his Planet Agua unannounced and setting the stage. The night saw more than 400,000 people entertained by the likes of Pharrel Williams, Macy Gray, Jorge Ben Jor, Lenny Kravits and more.
TV star Xuxa stated during the event, “We’re all to blame [for the climate changes],” she said. “It seems silly but it’s real. This isn’t a concert in benefit of the North Americans.
