A Sonic Youth greatist hits compilation called Hits Are for Squares will be co-released by Starbucks Entertainment and Universal Special Markets early next year. It will be sold at select Starbucks locations in eight U.S. markets (including New York, Chicago and Seattle) as well as online at hearmusic.com.
The limited-edition CD will feature Sonic Youth songs handpicked by Chloe Sevigny, Dave Eggers, Michelle Williams and other celebrity enthusiasts. The participants will also each write a few words, explaining their selections, for the liner notes. In addition to the hit selections, Sonic Youth will feature one new track exlusive to the compilation.
