Inside The Smiths, the first-ever official documentary about the legendary Manchester band, is due out on DVD on July 16th. It examines The Smiths from the perspectives of their bassist and drummer, Andy Rourke and Mike Joyce.
Ricky Wilson and Nick Hodgson of the Kaiser Chiefs, Peter Hook of New Order, Pete Shelley of the Buzzcocks, and Mark E Smith of The Fall also appear in the film offering their insights on the band. It was directed and produced by Stephen Petricco who is a friend of Rourke and Joyce’s.
Meanwhile, The Smiths former frontman Morrissey continues his solo US tour, and guitarist Johnny Marr is touring with his new band, Modest Mouse.http://www.nme.com/news/29005
