Cat Power Snags the Shortlist

Chan Marshall, aka Cat Power, has been crowned as the winner of this year’s Shortlist Music Prize for her acclaimed album The Greatest.

Beating out Hot Chip, Joanna Newsom, and Bonnie Prince Billy among others, the indie folk siren is the first woman to ever win the award, which honors albums that sell under 500,000 copies.

The award is in it’s sixth year and is decided by a panel of fellow musicians and industry mainstays.
