Sgt. Pepper Makeover Marks 40th Anniversary

On June 1st, it will be 40 years ago to the day that “Sgt. Pepper told the band to play.” To celebrate the anniversary, BBC2 is gathering as many characters as the classic album art yields to cover The Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. The tribute event will be aired on June 2nd. Oasis, The Killers, Kaiser Chiefs, Razorlight, James Morrison, The Fratellis and Travis are among the acts taking part.

The BBC reports that Geoff Emerick, the engineer in charge of the original sessions will use the same equipment to record the new versions. There is no news yet on which track each artist will cover.http://www.nme.com/news/oasis/27579
