R.E.M. are set to release their 14th studio album later this year, and today announced plans to have it produced by Jacknife Lee, the brain behind such bands as Snow Patrol, Bloc Party, and most famously U2. This will be the first new R.E.M album since 2004’s Around the Sun, which was infamous for a lack of reception from American audiences. The new album will be released by Warner Brothers Records.
In addition, R.E.M are to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame tonight, along with Patti Smith, the Ronettes, Van Halen, and Grandmaster Flash
