Apple Corps, LTD., holding company for The Beatles, and Apple Inc., creators of PowerMacs and iPods, have settled their long trademark dispute over each other’s name and logo.
The settlement gives Apple Inc. ownership of all trademarks related to “Apple.” Additionally Apple Inc. will license certain trademarks back to Apple Corps for their continued use. Apple Inc. will continue to use its name and logo on iTunes.
“We love the Beatles, and it has been painful being at odds with them over these trademarks,” said a relieved Apple CEO Steve Jobs. “It feels great to resolve this in a positive manner, and in a way that should remove the potential of further disagreements in the future.”
This opens up speculation for Beatles music to be sold digitally, but further terms of this settlement were not dislosed. http://www.billboard.com/bbcom/news/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1003541707
