The UK’s Official Chart Company has announced that Beck’s new album, The Information, won’t be able to land a spot on the British chart no matter how many copies it sells. The OCC has decided that Beck’s unique packaging is too enticing to consumers and gives it an “unfair advantage” over other albums.
Beck provides four sticker sets designed by artists of his choosing within each album, allowing the buyer to create his own cover art. He agrees that the packaging is “unconventional…, but it shouldn’t be penalized for that.”
