New York’s Beacon Theater will host “We’re Doing It For Love,” a benefit for Love’s Arthur Lee. Lee was diagnosed with leukemia in February and has since faced mounting medical bills.
In addition to his work with Love, Lee is credited with giving Jimi Hendrix his first recorded appearance and convincing the founder of Elektra Records to sign The Doors.
So far, Robert Plant, Ian Hunter, David Johansen, Yo La Tengo, Garland Jeffreys, and other are confirmed to appear.www.thelovesociety.com
