American V: A Hundred Highways is the latest album in the American series from Johnny Cash’s sessions with producer Rick Rubin. Recorded in the months before his death, the album includes the last song Cash ever wrote,”Like the 309.” Rubin put some perspective on the project: “These songs are Johnny’s final statement. They are the truest reflection of the music that was central to his life at the time. This is the music that Johnny wanted us to hear.”
American V will be released on Independence Day.
