MP3’s Rule

In the week between Christmas and the new year, nearly 20 million songs were downloaded from legal retailers, shattering Nielsen SoundScan’s previous one-week record of 9.5 million. It also helped bring the year’s total sales to 352 million, nearly two and a half times 2004’s sales. So what song was downloaded more than any other that hot week? D4L’s “Laffy Taffy” sold 175,000 copies.

It is also currently estimated that at least 250 million songs are downloaded every week from P2P networks.http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20060108/music_nm/digital_dc
