Music sales dropped nearly eight percent in 2005, proving the hopeful four percent rebound of 2004 a fluke. Not one release lasted longer than two weeks at the top of the Billboard 200, plunging down the chart immediately after hitting the top spot. These sales spikes were aided by sales of “long-running titles, greatest-hits compilations and a new entry in the perennially best-selling “Now” series.” However, it was not enough to keep sales on the plus side.http://www.cnn.com/2006/SHOWBIZ/Music/01/03/music.sales.reut/index.html
