Columbia Records has dropped quirky songstress Nellie McKay after arguing over the length of her recent album Pretty Little Head. McKay submitted a sixty-five-minute version while Columbia wanted a simpler forty-eight-minute set. In an effort to sway the label’s opinion, McKay gave out Columbia chairman Will Botwin’s personal email address, encouraging fans to write him, demanding the release of the long cut. Although things were patched up between the two, Botwin ended up leaving Columbia and his successor, Steve Barnett, stopped the official release.http://www.cnn.com/2006/SHOWBIZ/Music/01/04/music.nellie.mckay.ap/index.html
