Tom Petty to Receive Billboard’s Century Award

The 2005 Billboard Music Awards, set to air December 6 on Fox, will pay special tribute to Tom Petty when he is given the Century Award, Billboard’s highest accolade for creative achievement. The award is given to artists who continually develop their body of work. Past winners include George Harrison, Buddy Guy, Billy Joel, Joni Mitchell, Carlos Santana, Chet Atkins, James Taylor, Emmylou Harris, Randy Newman, John Mellancamp, Annie Lennox, Sting, and Stevie Wonder.http://www.billboard.com/bb/daily/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1001305610
