Scott Fisher Live at the Knitting Factory’s Alterknit Lounge 2/24/05

Scott Fisher played a short and sweet set at the Knitting Factory’s Alterknit Lounge. Playing material from his recently released self-titled album, Fisher adeptly guided his skilled band through his own brand of piano-pop. Fisher’s skills on the electric keys is remarkable, he’s obviously as comfortable singing as he is playing. While the music isn’t particularly innovative it accomplishes all that it needs to. It is pleasant sounding without being overwrought with banality. Just sticky-sweet enough to be catchy, without monotonous irritation. The live mix could’ve been better as sometimes his vocals were muddied under the weight of the rest of his band. All in all it was a strong, simple showing though. If he could get booked on an opening slot with a band such as say, Maroon 5, he would surely make a big impact.
