Go Get This
Sometimes simplicity is the best thing. Sometimes all that is needed are a guitar, drums, and a bass to make some really good music. The Get-Outs first full length, “Get The Message” promotes this simplicity in all ways. Hailing from England, the Get-Outs play super simple rock and roll that is reminiscent of the Clash, Swingin’ Utters, and at times, D-Generation X.The 13 tracks on their debut total around 35 minutes, devoid of any filler. Each song comes in quick, gets its message in, and then ends. It’s a refreshing change with so many artists out there with every single track pushing 5 to 6 minutes.
The music is simple, hard driving punk-influenced rock with good, upbeat tempos and enjoyable melodies. Each song is enough to make the listener bounce up and down, with energy in abundance. The trio works well together, making sure that each song is tight and meshes.
Singer/Guitarist David Edgar is decent, without being too abrasive. He’s not an amazing singer, but his singing doesn’t make one want to set fire to the disc either. At times his voice gets nasally, almost like Johnny Rotten or the singer from the Vindictives. He doesn’t make it obnoxious, and knows when to get back to actually singing and not yelling.
The Get-Outs keep the listener bobbing their head through the whole album, again, and again. Hopefully this album will help them break in and give us more in the future.
