Jadakiss, Back WIth A Vengeance

If anyone would be considered an enigma in hip-hop, it would more than likely be Jadakiss. His solo debut in 2001 was a strong introduction to his style, flow, and skill. While it didn’t hit platinum, it did show Jadakiss’ talent and prowess. Over the following years, he has appeared as a guest mc on many groundbreaking and influential albums. What is weird, and almost suicidal in an industry so volatile, is waiting 3 years to get the next album out. Here we are though, 2004, and Jadakiss has dropped his second album, Kiss Of Death, to rabid fans everywhere.Apparently, that time was well spent, because Jadakiss hits as hard and aggressive as ever. With a guest roster as long as his chain, Jadakiss is kicking as hard and aggressive as ever. The beats are fresh and original, thanks in no small part to the production of DJ Green Lantern, Black Key, and Jelly Roll. Many of the tracks on Kiss are very simple, which let Jadakiss’ vocal stylings shine.

Jadakiss’ voice has been heard on so many singles it’s not funny, and finally the public gets a chance to hear him again. His vocals hit like a hammer, strong, blunt, and in your face. His lyrics pack an even stronger punch, and show that he is aware of how artists are treated. “Yo, as far as the industry goes/Everybody’s a foe/Only a friend when they want you to flow.”

It may have taken 3 years, but Jadakiss is back out with an album that is worthy of his name. There’s not much more that we can ask for.
