Krist Novoselic

Recently-retired bassist Krist Novoselic (formally of Nivana and Eyes Adrift) is contemplating running for Lt. Governor of Washington State.

Olympia Democrats are excited about the prospect of Novoselic’s political run. Voting turnout among 18-24 year olds was at an all-time low during the 2000 elections and the party is hoping Novoselic could encourage youth involvement in politics.

Fellow Democrat, Party Chairman Paul Berendt: “Olympia is so constipated; they are totally bankrupt of new ideas. If we can infuse some new blood into the process, what harm can it do?…It tickles the hell out of me.”

Were he to run, Novoselic would be most interested in pushing what he calls an “inclusive democracy,” and to continue to work on behalf of young people and music.http://www.pitchforkmedia.com/news/03-12/08.shtml#story4
