Hell’s Still Frozen
Wow! Someone decided to take the playlist of every single classic rock radio station and release it as a 2-CD set! Oh wait, this is The Very Best of The Eagles? Didn’t the Eagles already release two greatest-hits albums that went on to sell a gazillion copies each? Well, this new collection is something a little different. It contains everything from The Eagles Greatest Hits Volumes 1 & 2, plus over a dozen other classic Eagles cuts including their most recent single “Hole in the World.”Now if you’re not familiar with the folksy classic rock anthems and ballads of the Eagles, where the hell have you been for the past 30 years? The Eagles are more American than apple pie and baseball combined, and if you grew up on this side of the planet, you should recognize at least one song from this collection. Disc 1 leads off with “Take It Easy” and ends with “Hotel California,” arguably their two most recognizable hits. Sandwiched between these jukebox-regulars are a spread of classic Eagles songs from the first half of their career. Disc 2 kicks off with “Life In the Fast Lane” and rocks steadily up until their most recent 2003 single “Hole In the World,” Don Henley’s rather weak soft-rock ode to a peaceful world after 9/11. They even threw in a version of “Please Come Home For Christmas,” a subtle reminder that this album was released just in time for the holiday season. So if you (or someone you love) has yet to own any Eagles on CD, grab this and get their “very best,” remastered and available with a limited edition DVD.
