New York finally returned some of the love to one of its most famous hometown boys – Joey Ramone of the Ramones. The corner of Second Street and the Bowery, half a block from CBGB and where band members lived in the ’70s, was renamed Joey Ramone Place. Fans flooded the streets of Lower Manhattan and chanted “Hey Ho Let’s Go!” as the street sign was revealed. A celebration was thrown shortly after at CBGB for Ramones friends, family, and fans. Joey Ramone passed away of lymphatic cancer two years ago.http://www.officialramones.com/joeyplace/main.html
