Bono Continues to Save the World

Bono was joined in concert by Queen, the Eurythmics, and Beyonce in kicking off Nelson Mandela’s 46664 campaign to get government-funded programs combatting AIDS in South Africa. Over 40,000 fans attended the show in Cape Town with tons more tuning into the MTV broadcast on World AIDS day, November 29th. Other artists included Peter Gabriel, the Corrs, Paul Oakenfold, Anastacia, and various artists popular to the South Africa set.

…In more Bono-related news, the frontman of U2 will also be honored at the 2004 King Center “Salute to Greatness” awards dinner hosted by the family of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on January 17th.

…Can’t get enough? U2 also received the “Best Music DVD” award for their DVD “U2: Best of 1990-2000” at the UK Interactive Music Awards last night.
