WK Strikes Again
A questions begs to be asked which is, “Isn’t there a point where there is too much party”? Well, certainly not in Andrew WK’s world. WK’s new album The Wolf is something of a concept album expressing his philosophies on life. Those philosophies include “Long Live the Party” about how “You can’t kill the party!” and Make Sex with the words “Wanna make sex/wanna make sex/Whoa.” This is, however, a remarkably optimistic enjoyable album. It showcases how beautifully Andrew W.K. can blend many genres successfully and keep you rocking a smile the whole way through.So much so to the point that you almost forget how cheesy some of the genres are when done ineffectively. Perhaps this is all a part of what makes Andrew WK special. The ability to use fist-banging metal, pop punk intensity and power ballad piano without it being some sort of slick hipster joke. This is Andrew WK being the only way he knows how. An unending enthusiasm for life and love and fun, and oh yeah, partying. Can’t forget partying. In the end WK assures us just as how the album begins that “Victory strikes again.” A part of me might want to make some kind of cynical joke, but another part of me finds that reassuring.
