Datsuns Aren’t Just Cute Little Dogs
When was the last time you heard a real Rock album? I mean Rock with a capital R? If it’s been awhile, then check out The Datsuns self-titled release. These guys don’t just know how to Rock, they spew the definition all over each blaring song. The Datsuns manage to combine elements of Led Zepplin, The Rolling Stones, and even Aerosmith into their album…as well as some more modern influences, for all the world sounding like a conglomeration of every element Rock has ever invented. “Sittin Pretty” has an eerily classic bluesy guitar riff, yet the singer sounds like Marilyn Manson. “MF From Hell” has the lyrics you ache to hear as soon as the album kicks off: “She made me feel like a motherfucker from Hell.” “Harmonic Generator” pays homage to eighties New Wave, but has the lead guitar styling of eighties metal. “At Your Touch” is reminiscent of Pearl Jam, when they really start to rock out…though a cowbell is somehow added into the mix.
Every songs starts with fantastic lead guitar, and won’t go out without screaming vocals and slamming drums. So if you’re looking for something brand-new that sounds like a typical Rock extravaganza, go for The Datsuns.
