In the new music video for their track “I Feel It Coming,” RnB superstar Weeknd and French House godfathers Daft Punk transported fans to another planet with a distinctively 80’s vibe. Released March 9th and directed by Warren Fu, the breathtaking visuals depict the artists on Mars, watching the sun orbit the terrain.
The video has the same grainy quality of a VHS tape, harkening back to an era before 1080p. In the nearly-five minute video, the Weeknd yearns for the day his lady love is turned back into a human, as it’s seen early on that she is made of stone.
After a strong wind results in the stone woman crumbling, the Canadian crooner experiences a life-changing transformation as well. Weeknd even shows off some Michael Jackson moves. Daft Punk makes a cameo in the video as two explorers who discover the glowing pink, icy remains of where the Weeknd once stood.
The Toronto singer is currently on the European leg of his “Starboy: Legends of the Fall Tour” with Lil Uzi Vert as his opener. So far on tour, Weeknd has brought out Travis Scott and even Drake as surprise guests. When fans saw that OVOXO was finally back together again after years of animosity between the two artists, they really lost it. They’re also set to reunite on More Life.
“My boy came and picked me up, he played me ‘What You Need.’ After that we met up at the studio and I heard House of Balloons, which is in my top five albums of all time,” Drake told the London crowd.
When the tour heads stateside this summer, Weeknd will bring his X0 label signee Belly, ATL crooner 6LACK and hitmaking duo Rae Sremmurd on the road with him.
